In 2014, lying on my stomach, I felt something that changed everything — a mass that turned out to be a large fibroid, leaving my uterus the size of a 23-week pregnancy. After surgery to remove the fibroid and two cysts, I didn't just want to heal. I wanted to understand why.
What I found in my research unsettled me — and also empowered me. Many everyday products lining my bathroom shelf contained toxic chemicals that I now understood could interfere with the body's hormonal balance. I'm not here to make sweeping medical claims. What I am here to do is be radically transparent about what's in every Asili product, so you can make informed choices about what you put on your body. That commitment to transparency is something I wear with pride — because you deserve nothing less. That concern was confirmed by my own surgeon — a highly respected gynecologist — who advised me to stay away from parabens, a preservative found in countless mainstream skincare products and one increasingly associated with hormonal concerns. I couldn't un-know any of that.
So I stood in store aisles, squinting at ingredient lists I couldn't decipher, searching for something simple, effective, and safe. I couldn't find it. So I made it. That's how Asili Living was born — every formula built on the promise that what goes on your skin should nourish, never harm.
Over the years, clean living became a full philosophy — eating with intention, reducing environmental toxins, moving my body in ways that felt joyful, and supporting my health through both conventional medicine and holistic practitioners. It isn't always easy. The grocery bill is real. Eating out takes more thought. But good things rarely come easy, and this is one worth the effort.
